As a nature photographer, I like to dazzle my audience with the wonders of the natural diversity of our world. In an effort to preserve some of the beauty of our rapidly changing planet, I have embarked on photographing animals in the wild. The intent of my photography is to capture the animal's behavior in its own habitat and share this privileged experience through my photographs.

It took many trips to Alaska before I gained enough intimate knowledge of the grizzly bears to capture the intrinsic moments in their daily lives.

Humanlike, bears stand upright on the soles of their feet, eyes nearly in a frontal pane. Bears move their forelimbs freely and sit on their tail ends often times with one leg folded. They worry with moans and sighs and court with demonstrable affection. Bears are avid for sweets, have a moody, gruff and morose side. Mamma bear spanks her children when they misbehave and quickly gathers them when she detects danger.

Through this portfolio, I invite you to join me on a typical day in a bear's life, perhaps the greatest symbol of wilderness, near the edge of extinction.
